Partners for Peace program seeking interns and volunteers

Posted February 24, 2010

Are you passionate about the quest for a just peace in Israel and Palestine? The CNI Foundation is currently seeking interns and volunteers for its Partners for Peace program to help produce its upcoming Jerusalem Women Speak tour.

Partners for Peace works to educate the U.S. public about the need for peace and justice between Palestinians and Israelis.  Through its flagship Jerusalem Women Speak (JWS) program, PFP brings three women (a Jewish Israeli, a Christian Palestinian, and a Muslim Palestinian) twice a year from Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories to speak to American audiences.  They come without having met one another before, without an arranged common agenda, to share their personal experiences of living in the midst of ongoing conflict.
Program tasks of the internship may include:

•    Assisting in organizing the JWS tour and/or other local events
•    Maintaining contact with JWS speakers and hosts
•    Preparing materials for use during, before and/or after JWS tours
•    Participating in tour orientation and/or tour events
•    Assisting in other local programming

Daily/weekly tasks may include:

•    Answering telephones
•    Distributing and opening office mail
•    Checking a general email account for important correspondence
•    Reading and summarizing news sources regarding the conflict
•    Maintaining a donor and contact database

Occasionally tasks include:

•    Updating office documents
•    Attending educational events and conferences
•    Other tasks to be determined by staff

We look for applicants with experience working with Microsoft Word and Excel, familiarity with FileMaker or other database software, and experience updating websites or blogging.  Experience with event planning and grassroots organizing is strongly desired. We also appreciate strong administrative skills, good verbal and written skills, and an ability to work independently once assignments are identified. The number of work hours per week is flexible, but 20 hours is desirable.Internships are unpaid but a small stipend may be available for applicants with significant relevant experience.

Partners for Peace (PFP) is a program of the Council for the National Interest Foundation, a non-profit organization seeking to educate the U.S. public about the need for Middle East policies that support the U.S. national interest, particularly regarding the Arab-Israeli and Israeli-Palestinian conflicts.
